Curriculum

Riverlife Kindergarten provides fun learning experiences necessary for the holistic growth and development of joyful, life-long learners. Our programmes help children learn about themselves and the world they live in. We provide an environment conducive for the building of friendship, co-operation and respect for others.

Desired Outcomes of Pre-school Education

At the end of pre-school education, children will:

  • Know what is right and what is wrong
  • Be willing to share and take turns with others
  • Be able to relate to others
  • Be curious and be able to explore
  • Be able to listen and speak with understanding
  • Be comfortable and happy with themselves
  • Have developed physical co-ordination and healthy habits
  • Love their family, friends, teachers and kindergarten

Our Programmes

  • Aesthetics & Creative Expression
At Riverlife Kindergarten, children are allowed to be expressive, creative and imaginative through experiences in visual arts, music and movement.
  • Discovery of the World
For children to develop an understanding of the world around them through science, history and geography, they need to engage their senses in order to find out how things work, conduct investigations and manipulate objects.
  • Outdoor Activities
Learning takes place anytime and anywhere. Children continue to acquire knowledge and skills beyond the classrooms and beyond school hours.
  • Field Trips
Field Trips are organised with explicit purpose of allowing children to observe, gather information, share ideas, experiment and form new knowledge. Field Trip is a component of our Project Approach to learning.
  • Language & Literacy
Language and literacy is vital to the development of children's thinking and learning. Children need to use languages to express their needs, feelings and thoughts. They also use languages to make sense of what adults want them to do. At Riverlife Kindergarten, we provide children with opportunities to extend and enrich their vocabulary and engage them in meaningful and purposeful conversation.
  • Motor Skills Development
Motor Skills Development is crucial to the development of gross and fine motor dexterity and physical fitness. This in turn promotes children's health and mastery of self-help skills in their daily routines.
  • Practical Life Exercises
When children play an active role in routines and daily living, they become more competent in other areas of development.
  • Cookery
Different areas of learning take place during cookery activities. This is one of many activities planned for children to have fun while learning.
  • Numeracy
Numeracy development involves the understanding of concept of numbers and meaningful application in real life situations. Our activities are focused on hands-on experiences and the acquisition and use of appropriate language for effective development of numeracy skills.
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
The classrooms are wired to the internet for easy access to various portals for information to enhance children's learning experiences.
  • Social & Emotional Development
We cannot assume that social and emotional competence will develop naturally as children mature. With successful personal, social and emotional development, children will have greater success in other areas of learning and living.
  • Moral & Spiritual Education
Children need to be guided to develop strong moral and spiritual character as contributing members of society.
  • Parents Support
Parents are children's first teachers. We recognise the close bond between parent and child in shaping the growth and development of the child.
  • Project Work & Theme Learning
Children are highly motivated and actively involved in their own learning when given the opportunity to explore, interact, question, reflect, discover, problem-solve and apply what they learn.
